Expat Psychologist

About Susan - psychologist in Rotterdam

A beautiful profession
Psychologist RotterdamI can’t put it any other way. I am an inspired psychologist.

This is true for two reasons. The first is the theory, the methods and new insights. This is a relatively young profession in which new knowledge (that can be applied immediately) frequently appears. And this is exciting. I am an avid reader, I follow courses and I keep immersing myself in new psychotherapy opportunities.

The other reason is you. In my job, I get to know many different people of different ages and backgrounds. All these people are at a crucial point in their lives, where their lives are ‘full’. There is change, they need to make decisions, things need to be processed etc.

Besides running my Rotterdam practice, I work at the Academy in Rotterdam as a teacher and supervisor at Social Services. I also write magazine reviews.

A full life
But I am not only a psychologist. I’m also a human being. And because I am inadvertently a part of our conversation, you will also get to know me.

Here’s a glimpse into my life history. Thirty-two years ago, aged 19, I met my husband. We lived in Cairo for some time where I taught English at a local school and learnt the Koran. Next, we moved to Spain for two years. We decided to do something completely different and started a boat rental service there.

Our children have grown up and left home and we have been living happily in Rotterdam for quite a while now.
